Good weekend This is a idea that I have for 2012. I want to go to a F1 Grand Prix race in a different country than England and Since I know a couple of people in Canada I thought maybe can do a 12 day trip for the time. Canadian is in Montreal on weekend of 9 June and I was think of heading out to Toronto on 31 May and heading back on 12 June. How do this sound logistics wise? If I was to come is there plenty of people I know still going to be in Canada? This is early stage planing. |

I'd make contact with the guys directly, not sure how often they frequent the forum. I suspect Arif (RRebel) should be able to be your 'fixer' in Montreal, and the Toronto crew will make sure you're well taken care of :) |

I have already been in contact with Yulia to make her aware of this post and as you saw the message in the home of music facebook group as a hint to check in here every now and again again. Still need to check my passport but think it is good for a couple of years let. Thinking of going to Belgium for Kristof's 30th. This year is for me to travel beyond anywhere like it before, for me anyway. |

Hey Ernie, Sorry for a late reply, it's been a busy week. Been meaning to get in here and write up some suggestions, but keep forgetting by the time I get home from work. This sounds like an awesome idea. As far as Montreal goes, I would definitely contact Rreb directly, and even though I have had dificulty meeting up with him myself, but it's only due to my own poor planning. My both trips to Montreal were VERY last minute (as in decided a few hours before we left) and the trips were chock full of family stuff, that I myself didn't have much time to hang out. As far as Toronto, you are quite welcome to stay with us, but I am warning you, that we have no guest rooms, and no pull out couches. It's a 1 bedroom apartment, quite small. It's possible to sleep on the couch, or we might need to invest in a blow up mattress to put in the living room. I really don't mind either option, Kristof stayed the same way. Not sure what Chester has been up to, we haven't seen each other in about a year (shame on us both). But I think with enough notice we could get him and Alan to meet up and do some fun stuff. I also live about an hour from downtown Toronto by streetcar, so not sure if this will suit you, since you do have limited time, so as an option you can check out a backpacker's hostel that we have right by the CN Tower. The rates are quite reasonable, check out the site: http://www.backpackers.ca/listings.php?companyid=Global%20Village%20Backpackers%20Hostel - I myself used to go to their bar, just to hang out and meet new people. As for me, my own personal time will be limited to evening and weekends, since no one can replace me at work. On the plus side, I usually get home from work around 4:30, and right now my boyfriend works with me, so we are both home at that time. During the day, you could do what Kris did, and go sightseeing downtown during the day. I'd like to maybe take you to do some camping on the weekend, but end of may-beginning of June can still be quite cold here, so not sure if the weather will cooperate. I don't manage cold well, so I usually start going by July. Last year it was awful. Rainy and cold up until the middle of June. If the weather is good we can do some picnicking in Provincial Parks on the weekend, but I guess we will see closer to the time. Do you have any thoughts of specifics you would like to do?

Well I have got my holidays booked and I'm free from the 31 May and would need to travel back on the 12 June. Like I say I'd line to be in Montral between 8-10 June for the F1 grand prix so may need to contact Rreb for that. The way that I'm working it out is so I get two weekends in Canada so want to see and drink as much as I can :). I can do sight seeing during the day and a sofa is more than enough for me. Camping sounds look as well but like wise it needs to be warm. So you will be in the country when I'm visiting? |

I'll be around. I suggest 1 weekend in Toronto and 1 in Montreal. It's a much more fun place to party. If I had a place to stay in Montreal I would consider going myself, since I have never been in the summer. But during F1 is going to be pricey and I am on a tight budget.

Silverstone where they have the british grand prix is pricy when the F1 race is on. To stay in a field is £100! |

Oh I meant the prices in the city go up during that time. Things like hotel stays and such.

Hmmm. But if you are going to see F1, it'll be good to just book ahead! There's hostels and such...

I just want to experience a bit of Canada and I can watch the Grand Prix in a bar with a couple of the locals I'm sure. Everyone is at home in a bar :) |
