Spotify - unlimited music!

I don't know how many of us use Spotify, but i know at least a few of us does.

..unfortunately, our boys and girls over-seas won't be able to partake in this, due to this:

  • Spotify is currently available in six countries: Sweden, Norway,
Finland, Spain, France and the UK. We never intended to allow
use of our service outside of those countries

Sorry guys. :(

...having such a huge library of music available, and with an API to make even better services, i'm enjoying this much more than i should (it's affecting work!).

Anyways, i sent Stanton a message with a couple of cool links, and thought i'd share them here too.

  • Somewhat of a chart, showing you popular music on Spotify, by week, month, or "emerging".

http://nrkbeta.no/2009/10/29/nrk-p3-spotify-playlists/

  • Songs from the playlists of our national broadcaster (Much like BBC in the UK), the most popular songs on the #1 commercial radio channel, and the official "Top 40" of Norway.

And now for a question:
Would it be possible to make something like this for muppets? a sub-page where we can add songs we like? I'm quite sure i'd find even more music i like that way. :)

Anythings possible my friend :) As a starter I've set up a collaborative playist so that anyone with Spotify can add songs to

I'd be quite interested in having a play with the spotify API, really don't know if/when I'd have the time but we'll see! If anyone wants to have a play at building something for the site then do let me know!

Something along the lines of a "osWalds top 10 most listened-to tracks" might be interesting, and aggregating everyone's favourites into a muppets top 10 maybe. Not sure how well it would work with the low number of people currently active, but it might give me some good writing material for my blog

Hmm, the metadata api seems quite limited at the moment, I'm guessing the links Os provided were built using libspotify, which as it's written in C, isn't really my bag, baby :(

The national broadcaster thingy has used the metadata api.

It's probably a bit of a read, but this is the output of that one:
    http://spotify.erlang.no/

The author also provides the source code:
    http://spotify.erlang.no/spotify.tar.gz

Sharemyplaylists.com makes my eyes bleed. It seems to be a case of "if everything is bold, nothing is bold". ;)

I'll have a look at it and may be something to have playing in the background of party tomorrow.
