Creationism

No, I am not talking about religion, but rather the act of creation.  I believe part of being an "artist" is to create.

As some of you probably know, I've been rather busy traveling this year.  All in the name of "work".  What I've left behind is not comfort nor friends and family, but my tools of creation.

This is the first week this year I truly get to sit down in front of my computer and create something. I miss it. In many way, I think I forgot how to do it. Not only the music part, but dealing with liking and then totally hating what I have created.  Maybe I should stop. Wait, maybe this is just one of those milestones.  Wait, maybe I just don't have another mix left in me. Wait, it's here. Oh no, it's not.

Is it possible to just create and not judge? I think not.

I find I'm my own worst critic, we tend to hold or work to a high level of internal Quality Control. Sometimes I find my abilities don't measure up to the grand ideas I want to achieve. Luckily we both work in a medium which lends itself to easy evolution (evolution, creationism... hmm.) and that's probably my favourite part of the whole process :) I guess don't worry too much about changing your mind, use it as a chance to improve on what you've done before :)

Creation i find through music and food... I enjoy standing in the kitchen and creating delectable delights...and its pretty much the same with mixing/dj'ing :)

I can speak from personal experience though that setting standards/goals too high only gets you disappointed - its tough to make them reasonably reachable.
